The maiden edition of The Law Challenge Ghana is set to take off in September this year, organisers of the Challenge, Touchworld Financial Consult have announced.

The Law Challenge Ghana, endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Unit is an educational quiz platform initiative aimed at strengthening the connections within, and between the legal, business community and society.

The Project Consultant, Rev. Moses Ansah-Barnor Ankrah said, among other objectives, the Challenge is aimed at:

1. Generating competitive spirit among the law faculties;

2. Shaping the destiny of the students of law towards the making of good lawyers who are alive to the role that law plays in the social, political, and economic advancement;

3. Bringing the study of law to the door step of ordinary Ghanaians;

4. Creating public awareness on the importance of law in a developing nation and raising the level of citizens’ compliance to various aspects of the laws governing the country.

The 12- round Challenge with a moot court final will be pre-recorded at the main auditorium, Accra City Hall and later telecasted on TV3. Among the areas to be featured include Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Law of Torts, Ghana Legal Systems, Law of Contract, Equity and Succession, Law of Immovable Property, Company Law, Jurisprudence, Commercial Law and Civic Education.

It is opened to teams from universities and law faculties across the country and winners of the Challenge will take home very attractive prizes. Also, winners of the Challenge, with the support from the project organizers, will provide legal aid services to support pro bono clinics for deprived charities for a year.

Technical consultants for the Challenge are Justice Marful Sau (JSC); Justice Sir Dennis Adjei (JA); Justice Eric Kyei Baffour (HC); Justice Ato Mills-Graves (Rtd.) and Mr. Yaw D. Oppong Esq with Mr. Samson Lardy Anyenini Esq, a lawyer and the host of news file as the Challenge Host.

The Law Challenge is supported by EPP Books Services, Websys Technology, Logistics Movers, Yetron Services, Note Cosmetics, Agate Transport Services Limited, Alisa Hotels and TV3.
