Former President of Tertiary Education Students Confederation (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the party to strategise to win the 2016 general election.
Madam Fidelia Kudaariwo, a former leader on the Kumasi campus of the University of Education, Winneba from 2010/2011 in a statement issued in Tamale said it is necessary for the NPP to forge ahead in unity to win back power in the 2016.
She claimed that Ghanaians had lost faith in the ruling National Democratic Congress due to what she termed economic hardships.
Madam Kudaariwo it is important for the NPP to capitalise on the weaknesses of the government and convince Ghanaians to vote it back to power to salvage the economy.
She said winning back power requires hard work as well as a winsome candidate who has already been marketed.
“Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the best man to win power for the NPP and leadership should not make any mistake and accept his decision to stay away from active politics,” she added.
Madam Kudaariwo said the NPP must remain grateful to God for bestowing on them Nana Akufo-Addo and appealed to the party leadership to retain him for the 2016 elections.
She commended Nana Akufo-Addo for the political maturity he exhibited by immediately accepting the Supreme Court verdict on the election petition the party filed against the declaration of the Electoral Commission that Mr John Dramani Mahama was the winner of the 2012 Presidential election.
“Such acts are marks of statesmanship and we need to emulate him to ensure lasting peace for the development of the country.”
Madam Kudaariwo said the swift manner in which Nana Akufo-Addo responded to the court ruling was an indication that he is a man of peace.
She commended the media for their sense of professionalism during and after the court verdict and urged journalists to continue to be ambassadors of peace and development to ensure that Ghanaians coexist.
