Major Boakye Djan Cleared For NDC Primaries

The national executives of the NDC in conjunction with the Brong Ahafo regional party chieftains have cleared the eligibility of Osahene Major Boakye Djan (Rtd) and other aspirants to contest its parliamentary primaries slated for next month - 19th November of this year.

In all thirty seven aspirants from various orphan constituencies including Jaman South are on offer for the ruling party’s parliamentary primaries.

The ex-AFRC strongman, Boakye Djan seeks to wrest for NDC the Jaman South seat should he scale through the hurdle of its primaries next month.

The screening exercise held in Sunyani last Sunday witnessed the vetting of both the Regional Minister Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo and Hon. Eric Opoku his Deputy also contesting with others to wrest the seats in their respectively constituencies for NDC come 2012 general election. The regional party chairman Mr. Opoku Atuahene disclosed that the exercise was held to complement an earlier vetting held at various constituencies in ensuring that party guidelines were strictly adhered to in selection of aspirants.

According to him an aspirant from the Techiman North constituency, Mr. Sarpong Hagan whose eligibility was in doubt was allowed a chance to reappear for his concerns to be addressed for the cohesiveness of the party in its quest to capture seats held by the NPP.

Present at the event were Hon. Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary, Hon Madam Cecilia Johnson, member Regional Council of Elders and Members of Council of State, Hon. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo-Regional Minister, Hon Eric Opoku, Deputy Regional Minister.

Others include Baba Jamal, Deputy Minister of information, Miss Babara Asamoah, National Deputy Youth organizer, Hajia Ladi, National Deputy Propaganda Secretary and Alhaji Mohammed popularly known as Maha, the Regional Youth Organizer.
