The Tamale Central Member of Parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), A.B.A Fuseini has lambasted the Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu for alleging that, former Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adjaho was remote controlling the Minority’s side.

Majority Leader on Thursday slammed the former Speaker and accused him of influencing the Minority badly.

According to him, the former speaker among his instructions to the Minority was to kick against the presence of the press during yesterday’s engagement with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei.

“The man [Doe Adjaho] is behind the scenes, he still wants to control Parliament. Yesterday, he even called them and was telling them that, they should not agree for us in committee to allow you the press to be present. The man thinks he is still in control.”

But the Minority MP, Alhaji Fuseini disputed the claims stating that, if an assessment was done, the former Speaker, Doe Adajo will stand out as one of the best Speakers in Ghana’s history. The Majority Leader he said acted out of political equalization.

‘’Let me say without equivocation that if we honestly and truly want to do an assessment of this Parliament, Honourable Doe Adjaho will stand out as one of the best speakers. And I am sure the Majority knows that. It is for the purpose of political chicanery that he is doing what he is doing. He is just saying it because he wants to find some basis to equalize and some points to stand on. But he knows within his heart of all hearts that when it comes to the steering of the affairs of the House; the Speakers who have come and gone, the Right Honourable Doe Adjaho will stand tall.’’

Nobody he said will pretend that the former Speaker was not NDC but he was professional in the conduct as a Speaker, and in the running of the affairs of the House. He challenged the Majority Leader to come out with an evidence and point out where the former Speaker gagged him and his then Minority’s side.

‘’I want the Majority Leader to come out and point where the Speaker restricted their ability to speak…Honourable Doe Ajaho never stopped him from talking, he never attempted to gag him. It is not like what is happening where our Minority Leader may even be on his feet and will not be recognized.’’

He described the chaotic situation in Parliament on Thursday as bizarre. The Minority he fumed reached the limit of their patience yesterday and if the Speaker does not change his attitude towards them, they will have no option than to take a drastic action.
