Make use of facilities - Minister appeals

Nyankomasi-Ahenkro (C/R), July 15, GNA - Professor Dominic Fobih, Minister of Lands, Forestry and Mines, on Friday appealed to rural communities to make good use of facilities to enhance their socio-economic standards.

He said facilities such as Post Offices and good road network were meant to promote a vibrant rural economy.

Prof Fobih made the appeal at the sod cutting for the construction of a new Post Office estimated at 287 million cedis for the people of Nyankomasi Ahenkro and its surrounding communities in the Assin South District.

The project initiated by the Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for the area, is being undertaken with HIPC funds would be completed within four months.

Prof Fobih called on Ghanaians to be patient with the government since it was determined to use resources including funds from the HIPC and debt relief to improve their social economic state. He stressed the need for the people to use the Post Office to achieve the objectives it was being provided.

The Managing Director of Ghana Post, Mr Kofi Dua-Adonteng, commended the Minister for his effort to improve the lives of the people and announced that an Internet caf=E9 would be established within the facility to enhance telecommunication.

The Omanhene of Assin Attandanso Traditional Area, Nana Tibu Asare II, expressed his happiness for the commencement of the project, which would also serve the surrounding communities.
