Makola fire victims angry with security agencies

Victims of the Makola number 2 market have expressed intense anger with fire officials and other security agencies which prevented them from salvaging their wares from last night’s inferno.

According to them, they could have at least saved some of their wares from being gutted by the fire had they been allowed access.

Hundreds of the market women who trade at the square were locked out of the place during the blaze to safeguard their lives.

Meanwhile, one person is reportedly dead following a fire outbreak at Old Fadama, a popular slum also known as Sodom and Gomorrah in the national capital, Accra.

Member of Parliament for the area, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, speaking to XYZ News said while personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service were busily fighting another fire outbreak at the Makola number 2 market, the slum dwellers of Old Fadama were also battling a similar outbreak simultaneously.

One person reportedly died from the slum fire. The Odododiodio MP added that the recent spate of fire outbreak raises a lot of suspicion.
