The Men Fellowship of the Methodist Church Ghana, Mamprobi Nazarreth Circuit, has organized a race dubbed 'all men Marathon Race' in support of Men fund raising ceremony.
The race which was started at the premises on saturday morning, through the streets of Mamprobi saw over fifty participants taking part in the maiden edition of the Men Marathon Race.
Speaking to the Chairman of the Mamprobi Circuit Methodist Church Ghana, Mr Justice Lantey Mills, he averred that the fellowship decided to organize the race in support of its activities and also to keep members fit and healthy.
According to him, although this is the first of its kind, the church as a whole will consider making it part of its activities and ensure that it will be maintained in the future.
He pointed out that participants of the race have expressed satisfaction about the event in the sense that, it affords majority the opportunity to do something they have not done for a long time.
"We are impressed about the turnout looking at the fact that this is our first edition," he said.
He also expressed the hope that the general public would be involved in subsequent races and that today's event was meant to test the waters to see how things will go.
Also, Deborah Benjamin Addy, the Society Steward expressed her satisfaction and happiness about the whole event. According to her, taking part in such race gives her the energy to keep fit and also kill diseases.
She also indicated that, the participation of the aged, people above the ages of 60 and 70 gave her the zeal and the enthusiasm which she believed was applied to other participants as well.
At the end of the one hour Marathon, winners of the various categories including those above 50, women groups, men groups, and the younger ones were presented with souvenirs to motivate them into participating in future marathons.
