Mamprugu Affirms Total Support For Nana-Bawumia

The Chiefs and people of Mamprugu yesterday proclaimed their unwavering and total support for the New Patriotic Party Presidential Ticket of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a true and competent son of the soil.

Moving to Mamprugu from Tamale, where the Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia arrived early yesterday morning, the pair was welcomed by thousands, comprising sons and daughters of Mamprugu and other residents and supporters who lined all the routes and mobbed the Presidential ticket at every stop, cheering the team, they know would deliver the nation as a whole from the governance of incompetence and despair being witnessed.

At their first stop in Kperiga, Dr. Bawumia’s hometown, Muslim prayers were said for the team and the New Patriotic Party. The elders of the town thanked Nana Akufo-Addo for doing them great honor by choosing their brother once again as Running Mate. They pledged not only to support the ticket fully but to also campaign for them to ensure total victory of the NPP in Mamprugu and the General Elections at large.

Nana Akufo-Addo on his part stated that ‘Dr. Bawumia was a good partner in 2008’ and that the two were very compatible and worked extremely hard in the last campaign. He added that Dr. Bawumia was an intelligent young man who would help manage the country’s economy and hoped that the people of Mamprugu would fully support the ticket in the December Elections. Nana Akufo-Addo finally noted that the pair were not seeking the support of the people merely because they wanted to be President and Vice-President but that they were seeking the support to enable them make Ghana the country our forefathers dreamt off.

The Team’s Next stop was Gambaga where the team partook in Friday Jummah Prayers. Prayers were said for Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia, the NPP Party and the general peace of the Nation for the election and a peaceful transition. The elders of Gambaga also thanked Nana Akufo-Addo for re-naming Dr. Bawumia as his Running Mate with some stating that they are so overwhelmed by the honor done them, they want to do something extra aside supporting, campaigning and voting for NPP and its Presidential ticket.

The presence of the team in Nalerigu brought the historic and renowned town to a total standstill as thousands more led the team to the Nayiri’s Palace where Dr. Bawumia, presented himself to his ‘father’, the Nayiri, Na Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, and officially sought his blessings and support for the task ahead. Assembled at the Forecourt of the Nayiri’s Palace, the Na Sheriga Palace, was the Mamprugu Traditional Council comprising all chiefs of the Mamprugu area who had all converged to welcome home and show support for a royal of the area and a celebrated technocrat seeking a high office of the land and a large crowd from various parts of Mamprugu.

Dr. Bawumia in addressing the Grand Durbar of Chiefs and people thanked the Chiefs and people for the welcome accorded him, Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP team. He called on the people of Mamprugu to throw their support fully behind the ticket of the NPP stressing that the two were coming into office with programmes and policies to make life better for the people of the North and Ghana generally. (Dr. please add any points you think I should add to what you said)

Na Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga on his part welcomed the nomination his son, Dr. Bawumia, as running Mate to Nana Akufo-Addo and thanked Nana Akufo-Addo for the great honor he had done Mamprugu by choosing Dr. Bawumia. He also thanked God for guiding Nana Akufo-Addo to make that choice. Recalling the numerous benefits the people of Mamprugu and the nation of Ghana in general gained under the John Agyekum Kufuor NPP administration, he noted that in 2008, God decided it wasn’t time for the pair to take the reins of government and prayed that this time it would be their time.

Dr. Bawumia and Nana Akufo-Addo would today partake in the National Muslim Prayer Service at the Tamale Stadium to be led by the National Chief Imam.
