The Eastern Regional Police Command is appealing to the general public to be alert and not to purchase suspicious products which could be harmful to health.

Peddlers of such products are rather to be reported to the police.

This appeal comes a day after market women and men in Nsawam arrested and brought to the Nsawam Police Station a 37-year-old suspect from Bekwai for selling an insecticide named Magic Scent to the general public.

Upon interrogation, the suspect - whose name was given as Kwabena Owusu - confessed in the presence of many independent witnesses that he grinds broom and cow dung and sells to the general public as insecticide.

He covers his head with female wig and wears female skirt and blouse as well as female shoe to match.

The Nsawam Police has, therefore, preferred a provisional charge of defrauding by false pretences and carrying out of obnoxious trade.

The substances are yet to be sent to Forensic Crime Laboratory for test.

But the general public is being warned to be on high alert over these suspected fake insecticides.
