Man Beaten By Landguards

By Citizen News Desk
A 38 year old man was severely beaten by more than ten (10) men in the early hours of Sunday 22nd of July 2012 in his house on the Spintex Road.
These men had gone to clear the land on which the victim's house is located, upon instructions by one man called Shariff Botyi who is alleged to be a land guard of the Nungua Wolumo and only represent the Numo Nmashie Family under power of attorney or instructions from the Wolumo.
According to Antwi Bosiako the 38 years old man, he had just stepped out of his two rooms building situated on the two plots of land, to find out why his fence wall was been pulled down by these men only to be slapped from behind by Botyi.
Although this Newspaper got there at a time these guards had left, Mr. Bosiako revealed that, Mr. Botye after slapping and enquiring from him why he wants to stop the men from executing a job they've been paid to do, ordered his men to subject him to severe beatings which they did.
The land guards after realising that a huge crowd was gathering, left the place sounding a very strong warning to the tenants to vacate the land for them to commence work on it as soon as possible or have themselves to blame.
Documents sighted revealed that, the land had legally been acquired, paid for and registered in the year 2000 by the true owner of the land who resides in USA.
According to Nana Kwame, who is the representative of the land owner, Botye told him about a month ago that, he had secured judgements from the courts in 2003, making him the legitimate owner of certain lands in some suburbs of Accra, which were under litigation and had been in courts since 2001, with Spintex inclusive and specifically the said land, thus asking Nana Kwame to tell the land owner to pay some amount of money to him to enable him keep the land.
A perusal however through the said documents, from the courts according to Nana Kwame revealed that, Spintex was not included in the suburbs listed on the document, hence the refusal of the landlord to pay. This however led to the brutal assault on Antwi who is a tenant in the house built on the controversial land last Sunday.
Shariff Botye when contacted for his side of the story refused to comment and denied ever been involved in what he's been accused of.
