Man arrested for killing fellow Ghanaian in Spain

A Ghanaian resident in Spain has allegedly killed another Ghanaian in a meat factory they both work.

The Ghana Embassy in Madrid in a release stated that the Ghanaian national only identified as Michael K. (36 years old), on 24th September 2019 is alleged to have killed his Ghanaian co-worker Yunairu M. following an altercation between the two at their meat producing factory and workplace in Riba-Roja, Valencia.

Information disclosed by the Mission indicates that, the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck with one of the knives used at their workplace. He was pronounced dead by emergency medical services upon their arrival on the scene.

The information further indicates that friends to the antagonists have averred to the fact that, the two had been at loggerheads for some time now with frequent arguments which culminated in a heated exchange at their workplace a little after 3 am on the day in question.

Co-workers claim that they could hear shouting and loud voices coming from Michael and Yunairu and were on the verge of separating them when a sharp knife was pulled by the suspect to stab the victim.

Meanwhile, the court has since remanded him after examining the police report and taking his statement. He is currently in custody awaiting trial.

Police authorities proceeded to notify Embassy officials after the arrest.

The Mission in its release added that it is still gathering information on the incident and will keep the public apprised of developments as and when they occur.
