Man convicted for fraud

Tema, Sept. 16, GNA - Musa Bukari, unemployed, was on Thursday sentenced to six months' imprisonment by a Tema Community Tribunal for defrauding Mr Martin Amartey, a resident of Ashaiman of 800,000 cedis under the pretext of buying him a deep freezer.

He pleaded guilty. The Prosecutor told the tribunal that on July seven, the accused, who claimed to be a security officer of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, told Mr Amartey that there was going to be an auction sale of some items including a deep freezer at the Tema Harbour.

Mr Amartey expressed interest in the deep freezer and gave the accused 800,000 cedis in part payment for the freezer, which Bukari said was being sold for 1.5 million cedis. The accused disappeared until he was arrested at his hide out at Kpone on September 11.
