After spending six years of his life in prison without trial, Musah Hundah has been freed under the Justice for All Programme.

Narrating his story, he said he was arrested in 2018 along with five others for allegedly committing murder.

According to him, he was never taken to court for a trial, while his partners were released 4 years ago.

Expressing his excitement after his freedom, Musah Hundah revealed he was arrested during a police swoop in his house at Abeka over his involvement in a murder.

His family, who were expected to help secure his bail, abandoned him to his fate in jail.

“I came here in 2018 for murder. I have never been taken to court, not even once, and no one informed me of anything. We were six in number when we were brought to the prison, but all of them have been released as long as four years ago. Our first appearance got two people released by the Ajabeng court opposite cocoa affairs. The remaining four of us were given a lawyer, securing the release of the remaining 3, leaving me behind. I was arrested at Abeka I my room,” he recounted.

Musah Hundah is one of 12 inmates who were released from the Nsawam Prisons under the Justice for All Programme on July 25, 2024.

The hearings were held for 24 inmates, with 12 discharged, 10 granted bail, and two denied bail.

Two separate hearings were held by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo and Justice Kofi Akuffo. None of the inmates were referred for psychiatric treatment, and none of the cases were dismissed or struck out.
