The Juaso Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Fredrick Tetteh, has convicted a 38- year old man accused of sodomizing a 10-year old boy at Konongo.

Kwame Opoku, a kitchen assistant at the Konongo-Odumase Senior High School (SHS) is to spend 12 years in prison in hard labour.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence but the court found otherwise.

Police Detective Inspector Obimpe Manasseh said the victim lives with the father and together with other children occasionally went to the school’s pantry, where Opoku was working, to feed on the leftover food.

It was during one of those missions in January, 2012, that the convict lured the boy to a washroom, sodomized and warned him not to mentioned his traumatic experience to anybody or risk death. He saw him off with a bowl of rice.

Months later, the victim started noticing blood in his faeces and became sick – forcing him to tell the father everything

A formal complaint was made to the police and doctors who attended to the victim in a signed report confirmed that he had indeed been sodomized.
