Man kills pal with scissors

A 30-year-old trader has been nabbed by the Odorkor Police for stabbing his friend to death.

The suspect, Samuel Owusu Addo, allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Samuel Yorke to death for calling him a mentally-deranged person.

Samuel Addo, after the act, went into hiding but he was later smoked out by the police upon a tip-off at Nsawam last Sunday evening.

The suspect has now been detained by the police awaiting trial.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent Abraham Acquaye, the Odorkor District Police Commander, said the incident occurred on Friday, September 20, 2013 at about 6:45pm at Odorkor Market.

Samuel Owusu and the deceased Samuel Yorke were both traders at the market.

Reports indicated that the two engaged in a scuffle after a misunderstanding, and in the process, Samuel Addo, who had in his pocket a pair of scissors, stabbed Yorke in the stomach and bolted.

Yorke was rushed to the Rock Hospital located at Odorkor Official Town for treatment by some of the traders, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A report was later lodged at the police station, but Samuel Addo was nowhere to be found when police got to the scene.

Upon a tip off, however, the security agents managed to arrest him at Nsawam where he was seeking refuge on Sunday September 22, 2013.

Upon interrogation, Samuel Addo said they fought because the deceased called him a mentally-deranged person.

The suspect said his intention was not to kill his friend, but rather to teach him a lesson.

The body of Samuel Yorke has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

Samuel Addo will be arraigned before court soon, according to the police commander.
