A 20-year old man who allegedly defiled a four-year old girl in a washroom at Laterbiokorshie has appeared before an Accra circuit court on Wednesday.
Derrick Amankwah, charged with defilement, pleaded guilty.
Amankwah’s lawyer prayed for mitigation saying the court should deal leniently with him.
The court, presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, convicted him on his own plea but deferred sentence to October 14.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Patience Adjapong said the complainant is the victim's mother.
According to ASP Adjapong, the complainant, victim and the accused person resided in the same vicinity at Laterbiokoshie in Accra.
On September 22, this year, at about 1900 hours, the victim's mother returned from church and she informed her mother that while she was away, Amankwah took her into the washroom, removed her pant, put her on the floor and lied on her.
When the complainant confronted the accused person, he admitted removing the victim's pants and put her on the floor after ejaculating.
ASP Adjapong said the accused contended that he inserted his finger into the victim's vagina and his semen splashed on the victim, but denied that he discharged his semen into the victims’ private part.
