Man remanded for robbery

A man who robbed a Sales Executive of his money in his bid to purchase an Iphone 6 S cellular phone valued GH?1,900.00 has been put before an Accra Circuit Court.

Jeffery Osei-Addey charged with robbery pleaded not guilty.

The court sat over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh remanded Osei-Addey into lawful custody to reappear on January 4.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Adjei told the court that Samuel Akowuah, the complainant resides in Accra.

According to ASP Adjei, the accused person also lives in Accra.

Prosecution said on December 16, this year, the complainant saw an Iphone cellular phone being offered for sale on Tonaton Ebay platform, with a phone number posted against it.

ASP Adjei said complainant contacted the accused person via the phone number and expressed interest in purchasing the mobile phone.

On December 16, this year, at about 1200 noon, both the complainant and Osei-Addey agreed to meet at a spot, close to the Goil Filling Station at 37 Military Hospital.

After bargaining, both arrived at 1,600 but the complainant brought out GH?1,900.00 from his pocket. While they sat in a waiting taxi, Complainant counted GH?1,600.00.

The taxi driver had then stepped out of the car to purchase coconut. The accused then got out of the car and joined the complainant again in the taxi after making a call.

Suddenly, prosecution said a motor rider parked his motor bike close to the taxi. Accused person pulled out a double edged knife and ordered the complainant to surrender his money and Iphone 6 S mobile phone.

Complainant obliged and accused joined the Pillion rider and they both sped off.

Prosecution said the complainant raised the alarm but Osei-Addey escaped with the booty.

The taxi driver and other witnesses found on the floor a Nokia phone which had dropped from the accused’s pocket.

A report was made to the Police who tracked Osei-Addey and arrested him at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
