Man trapped to death in TOR's RFCC Unit

Tema, Oct. 17, GNA 96 The Safety Team of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) is making frantic efforts to retrieve the body of a man trapped to death while working on the Reactor of the Residual Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (RFCC) at TOR on Monday.

The man whose name was given as Mr Enoch Kojo Osei, a welder is still lying at the bottom of the Reactor of the Unit at about 15 hours on Tuesday when GNA was leaving the premises.

Mrs Aba Lokko, Public Affairs Manager of TOR, told the GNA on Tuesday that the management was liaising with safety experts from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission and AngloGold Ashanti, to assist in retrieving the body.

Already assistance had come from the Ghana Navy, the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) and many others.

She said management had met with the bereaved family to inform them about the efforts underway to recover the body.

Mrs Lokko explained that work on the RFCC was awarded on a contract to one Mr Taylor, who also engaged the services of Mr Osei where he met his untimely death.
