Mustapha Mohammed, the man who lost his baby and wife after a Caesarean section done by the Ridge hospital and further acts of negligence on the part of the staff, has vowed to do everything in his power to make sure that the Medical Director(MD) of the hospital is ripped of his position.
Speaking with Pastor Nyansa Boakwa on Nsem Pii which airs on Happy FM, he explained his reason to think that the MD, one Doctor Sefrenyo, did not deserve that position.
The man narrated that when he spoke to the doctor about what he had learnt on the cause of his wife’s death, Dr. Sefrenyo simply commented that what happened with his wife was just an accident.
“He told me that the embolism can come at anytime so sometimes you can’t even predict it, you can’t even see it so it was an accident. He said that what my wife went through, another woman can go through the same process and no such thing will happen afterwards and he even gave me a fraction of women that usually have that complication”.
Mustapha furthered that he then asked for his deceased wife’s autopsy report in which when provided, he noticed a part that read, “Subcut Fragmin and other medications were prescribed but the Subcut Fragmin was not bought”, he stated verbatim.
According to Mr. Mohammed, he enquired about the said medicine and was told that it is an anticoagulant which is necessary to prevent blood clotting after surgery.
He said that at that point, his mind was drawn to the fact that what he discussed with them earlier, was what they might be using in their defense, so he moved to read the summary of the whole report.
He stated again verbatim, what he saw, which read, “It is the protocol of the hospital’s maternal department to administer prophylactic anticoagulant therapy after twelve hours of Caesarean section”.
The man revealed that he wanted to do a little more follow up on what he had just read, hence, he read further only to see that the hospital had accused him of not buying the prescribed medicine even after they had impressed upon him after the surgery, to buy the medicine.
Mr Mustapha Mohammed continually narrated that even though that was not the case, he gave it the benefit of the doubt that his wife, as she was the one who bought those prescriptions, might have left that out for possible reasons like unavailability of the drug.
He then went back to check the receipts of the medicines that his wife was made to purchase, only to realize that the medicine in question was bought.
Per all these gathered facts, Mustapha says he is of the view that his wife, with whom he had quite a lengthy conversation with, only the previous night and who seemed well, lost her life due to negligence on the part of the medical staff of the Ridge hospital.
Mr. Mohammed Mustapha has currently filed a GHC5m law suit against the Ridge hospital, for what he terms or sees as an act of negligence leading to the death of his wife.
