Management of Korle Bu meets agitating staff

Authorities at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital say they are hopping various nurses groups at the hospital who have threatened to lay down their tools next week will consider an appeal by the board.

Three different groups at the hospital are agitating over salaries and better conditions of service.

But outgoing Chief Executive of the Hospital, Efua Hesse told Joy News board members have been meeting with the leadership of the disgruntled groups in a bid to avert next week’s planned protests.

He said: “We are praying that they will heed the discussions that we had because as we said there is always an avenue for them to apply for salary advance.”

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry wants the nurses to be patient as efforts are being made to address their concerns.

Public Relations Officer at the Health Ministry, Tony Goodman, told Joy News the delays are caused by bureaucracies that are necessary to provide checks and balances.
