Abura-Dunkwa (C/R), Aug. 19, GNA - Mr Benjamin Yemoah, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District Manager of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) on Thursday urged all residents of the District to register with the Scheme for improved health care. He expressed concern that so far only 50,000 persons out of a population of 93,000 people in the District had registered, with a total premium of 36 million cedis.
Mr Yemoah, who was speaking during an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said 49,800 of those registered were from the informal sector while the rest were from the formal sector.
He exhorted all residents to patronise the scheme and to discard the notion that it would be a failure.
Mr Yemoah also appealed to the District Assembly to expedite action on the provision of a permanent office for the Scheme.
