While Ghana is struggling to contain plastic waste in the country, it has been disclosed that some plastic manufacturers import some of these plastics from outside the country.
Cecilia Abena Dapaah, the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, who revealed this, further stated that after an interaction with the Ghana Plastics Manufacturers Association, "she was horrified" to hear when they don't get enough of plastics to package their wares, they resort to importing the rest from other West African nations.
The sector minister, who was speaking in an interview with host of Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Kwami Sefa Kayi, disclosed that the plastics are imported from Burkina Faso and Cote D'Ivoire.
According to her, "the rejects then become waste in the country."
