The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, has explained that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s ongoing door-to-door campaign has been embraced by many Ghanaians because his policies are more intelligible and unambiguous.

In a write-up on social media, he explains that Dr. Bawumia has been able to captivate voters because the policies that he is selling are very realistic, intelligible and relatable.

“Unlike John Mahama whose 24-hour economy concept is just refusing to make sense to anybody,” the MCE wrote in a post on social media on Thursday.

According to him, the intelligibility of the policies Dr. Bawumia is selling to voters is also further making it clearer to people that Mr. Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy is just fanciful gibberish.

“People keep asking, ‘what does 24-hour economy really mean?’ especially in the context of the fact that Ghana’s economy has already been operating on a 24-hour basis since the advent of the internet age,” Yohane Amarh Ashitey wrote.

The comments come in the wake of a recent survey by a Statistics Professor at the Kumasi Technical University which shows that the majority of voters prefer Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as president but prefer the NDC as a political party.

According to the report from the baseline survey by Professor Smart Sarpong, 38.9 percent of respondents favoured Dr Bawumia, as against 36.1 percent preferring the flag bearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama.

The report, however, said the NDC led in “popularity” with 38.8 percent as the political party Ghanaians were likely to support in the coming election.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the report’s publication, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has also been having a very buoyant tour of the country with Ghanaians often turning out in their numbers to listen to him speak.

“People are embracing Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because the policies that he has unveiled so far make sense and are very relatable unlike John Mahama’s amorphous 24-hour economy which really sounds like fanciful nothingness,” Yohane Amarh Ashitey wrote.
