Market women threaten naked demonstration

Ghana will witness its first ever nude demonstration if the concerns of market women at Dome in the Ga East Metropolis are not met after the expiration of an ultimatum they issued to authorities.

The women, who are agitating the imposition of a new market queen, indicate that they already have one and do not see the need for another ,giving authorities exactly a week to solve the matter or they will be compelled to hit the streets naked.

Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) Janet Tulasi Mensah is reported to have appointed a new market queen indicating that the one known by the women is no longer functional leading to revenue leakages to the assembly.

But the angry market women said they truncated paying levies to the assembly because all ongoing projects in the area have been halted and therefore see no reason why they must contribute and not see where their levies are channeled into.

A formal complaint they said they have lodged complains to the assembly to hasten slowly on the matter has yielded no effort threatening the nude protestation as the last resort to having their grievances addressed.

“We are not a political party and so we won’t allow the MCE to make unnecessary decisions for us. We have made several complains but nothing has been done about it and so we will protest to drum home our grievances” leader of the aggrieved women threatened.
