Adeiso (E/R), Sept.11, GNA- An agriculturist, Mr John Martey, was on Friday elected as the CPP parliamentary candidate for the Upper West Akim constituency to contest the December election. He was elected unopposed at the party's primaries supervised by the Electoral Commission at Adeiso.
The Eastern Regional chairman of the party, Nana Owusu Sekyere, appealed to Ghanaians to vote the party into power. The Regional Women's organizer of the party, Ms Chris Mills, said most Ghanaians had benefited from the free education that the CPP government introduced when it was in power and asked Ghanaians to vote for CPP.
She said education had become expensive and unaffordable to most Ghanaians due to "unfavourable government policies".
Mr Martey, in his acceptance speech, said as an agriculturist, he would fight for farmers to have the best share of the country's income.
