Former MP for the La Dadekotopon constituency, Nii-Amasah Namoale has asked Mr. Martin Amidu to exercise self-control in executing his duties as an Independent Special Prosecutor.

He has taken a swipe on Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin A. B. K. Amidu saying he doesn’t have the credibility to be the Special Prosecutor.

“The Special Prosecutor has powers to execute his duties effectively so why is he complaining, I don’t trust him anymore because he lacks credibility,” Nii-Amasah Namoale told Kwaku Dawuro on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Kingdom FM 107.7

However, he opined that as a matter of principle, it behooves the honourable prosecutor to call it a day so long as he is being obstructed on a daily basis.

According to him, after his appointment as Special Prosecutor, no work has been executed by his office, though he draws a salary from the public purse.

He added that the Special Prosecutor is behaving as if he does not know or understand that law and thus lamenting unnecessarily.

Namoale said observed that Ghanaians are gradually losing faith in the hitherto citizen vigilante who many thought should by now have prosecuted a number of cases within his period of appointment indicating that he is gradually reducing his office into a useless one.

He stated emphatically it is practically impossible for him to execute his mandate as Special Prosecutor if the friction between his outfit and the appointees of President Akufo-Addo not assisting him is eliminated.

Background

President Akufo-Addo gave a Presidential Assent to the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill and four other bills key on the agenda of his administration.

The President noted that the establishment of the Office of Special Prosecutor was an important step in the government’s determination to root out corruption from public offices.

Many have hailed the appointment noting that the self-styled citizen vigilante’s credibility as far as the position is concerned, is unquestionable.
