Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has stated that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) must bestow unto the former Attorney General under the Presidency of late Atta-Mills as the only ‘General’ in the NDC.
According to him, Martin Amidu was hounded out of office because he challenged the status-quo and wanted to fight the corrupt system in place, which he has succeeded, and must now be referred to as “General Amidu”.
“General Mosquito should not be the General in the NDC; I think Martin Amidu should now be called the General, he deserves it,” he said on Asempa FM.
Dr. Sekou believes for Mr. Martin Amidu to have a confrontation with the former late president to the extent of being pestered out of office because he wanted to fight corruption, his agenda has been vindicated.
“When you stand for what is right, and fight for what is right, I think there is always a reward waiting for you. It is good for Ghana too that we have Ghanaians who are bold and strong to also fight for justices and the truth,” he stated.
As determined as his soul was, ‘General Amidu’ never reneged on his agenda to prove to the world that there was indeed a syndicate in government and other state institutions that have resolved to syphon state funds under the guise of judgment debts for their personal gains.
Amidu who described himself as a ‘citizen vigilante’ went to court seeking relief for monies paid illegally to both Alfred Woyome and Waterville to be declared illegally paid and an order for the monies to be returned to the state.
The Supreme Court in its ruling ordered Waterville Holdings Ltd. to return to the state €40 million it obtained illegally arising out of claims it brought against the state in 2009.
The Court's order followed arguments before it by former Attorney General, Martin Amidu that neither Waterville nor businessman Alfred Woyome, who also obtained similar payments, had a valid contract with the state to warrant the huge payments.
