The nominated Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has not relinquished his National Democratic Congress (NDC) membership, the party’s General Secretary has said.
Rumours were that Mr Amidu, a founder member of the party, has resigned following his appointment as Special Prosecutor by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
But Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the NDC has not received any resignation letter from its Attorney General and Minister of Justice under late president John Evans Atta Mills.
Speaking on 3FM’s Sunrise hosted by Winston Amoah on Wednesday, Mr. Asiedu Nketia said, “We have also heard the rumours but we have not received any resignation letter from Martin Amidu about any resignation at all.”
He added: “He continues to be a member of the NDC because we want more people to join the party”.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia explained that “the Attorney-General remains a member of the NPP so I don’t see why Martin Amidu must resign before he can serve [his] capacity”.
