National Democratic Congress (NDC) bigwig Professor Joshua Alabi has rubbished suspicions in certain quarters that the Special Prosecutor-designate, Martin Amidu, will witch-hunt some persons, particularly members of his party.

The first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) said Mr Amidu will never do such a thing.

“[Martin Amidu] is not coming for the way people are thinking that he is coming to chase people who have one or two problems with him.

“No, no, I don’t see Martin [Amidu] that way,” Prof Alabi stated on TV3’s Midday Live on Saturday.

Martin Amidu will face Parliament for vetting as Special Prosecutor
There were accusations moments after the former Attorney General was named by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Special Prosecutor that he will witch-hunt members of the NDC he fell out with.

But Prof Alabi, who worked with Mr Amidu in the same government under Jerry John Rawlings, said, “I don’t see Martin Amidu coming to witch-hunt.”

“I see [him] as a technical person, a very fine brain who believes in what he does and he is just simply coming to do what is required of him.”

He added that nobody can push Mr Amidu around and believes he will deliver.
