Members of the Martyrs of Uganda Catholic Men’s Fellowship have donated food and non-consumable items to the Kaneshie Catholic Centre of Hope.

The items were; four mini-bags of rice, 25 litres of cooking oil, a bag of sugar, cartons of canned tuna, cartons of tin tomatoes, powdered soap, other detergents and cash amount of GHS 500.00.

Mr Johnson Yao Ameteho, President of the Fellowship who presented the items on behalf of the group said it formed part of the 44th Anniversary of their Founders’ Day.

He said apart from the donation, lectures were also held at the Parish to educate the congregants on sensitive issues on religion, rule of Law, freedoms and responsibilities.

Mr Ameteho gave the assurance that the Fellowship would continue to liaise with other partners to support the Centre to achieve its goals.

Reverend Sister Collette Cynthia Mwaakpaar, Head of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary at the Centre commended the fellowship for the gesture.

She said the centre catered for the needs of the elderly, children, physically and mentally challenged persons in terms of feeding, sponsorship in school, medical bills and clothing.

She said although the dependants were not resident at the Centre, particular days were scheduled for their meetings.

She said the Centre was sponsoring 200 needy students from the Kindergarten to the Senior High School Levels and catered for HIV and AIDS patients at their homes and health facilities.

Rev. Sister called on other organisations to support them.
