Maryland man pleads guilty to passport fraud

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A 50-year-old Maryland man faces a maximum of 5 years in prison and $250,000 in fines after pleading guilty to charges he lied on his passport application.

Freddie Adjei Asinor of Baltimore is a citizen of Ghana, said U.S. Attorney Thomas Colantuono. He submitted a passport application in February 2004 misrepresenting his date and place of birth, said Colantuono. He also falsely claimed he was a U.S. citizen.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 22.
