Mason and labourer remanded for stealing.

Tema, Sept. 16, GNA -- A 22-year old mason and a labourer, who took advantage of the absence of a pregnant woman, broke into her apartment at Zenu-Ashaiman, and stole her wares, have been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'. Benjamin Lamini and Kwabena Aminame, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and will re-appear on Tuesday, September 28.

Police Chief Inspector Christopher Quaicoe told the court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that on the 9th of this month, at about 5:30 pm, when the complainant had gone to ante-natal clinic, the accused persons took advantage of her absence, conspired and broke through her apartment and stole some items.

Chief Inspector Quaicoe said when the pregnant woman returned home and detected that 10 sets of Chinese bowls valued at 1.6 million cedis and a quantity of BF soap valued at 130,000 cedis, had been stolen, she reported the theft to the police. The prosecution said during police investigations, two of the bowls were retrieved from the accused persons, and after investigations they were charged with the offence.
