Mason arrested with bundles of cannabis

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA - The Osu Police last Sunday arrested a 46-year-old mason with three bundles of leaves suspected to be cannabis. Victor Addo, who was arrested near the Olympic Park at Osu during a swoop, told the Police that one Kweku Asamoah, a friend, gave the leaves to him.

Addo indicated that when his accomplice, Asamoah brought the leaves they smoked some of them to test the potency.

Briefing the press, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) James Annor, Osu District Commander, said on Sunday November 20, the Police on their usual operation against drug peddlers in the Osu District arrested Addo also known as "Vico" or "Shortman."

According to ASP Annor, the Police apprehended Addo, who was carrying the bundles wrapped in a black polythene bag but his accomplices escaped. He said the Police would not relent in its efforts to clamp down on the activities of peddlers especially in and around the Osu District. He said most people were using the beaches as their hideouts where they smoked the drugs before they engaged in their nefarious acts. The District Commander said the drugs would be sent to the Ghana Standard Board for analysis while Addo would be put before the courts.
