The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Michael Oquaye Jnr., affectionately known as GABO, launched his manifesto on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in preparation for the December 7, 2024 election.
The event was graced by the presence of Alma Naa Jama Pokua Adade-Prempeh, the wife of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, and other dignitaries. The occasion was attended by a large number of people.
In his speech, Michael Oquaye Jnr. expressed his dedication to promoting the economic advancement of the constituency, focusing on sectors that address the everyday needs of Ghanaians.
He outlined his vision for education, healthcare, sanitation, infrastructure, industrial development, youth and women empowerment, security, sports, and agriculture.
The Parliamentary candidate, who has already initiated several projects in the constituency, was praised by his supporters. He has fully funded extra class fees for all students at Abokobi Senior High Schools with GH¢10,000, and has also taken steps to remove refuse dumps to prevent health issues.
GABO has completed the construction of 10 bridges and installed street lights in all 18 zones within the constituency. He is currently working on installing 1,000 street lights by December to ensure a safer environment for Dome-Kwabenya constituents. Additionally, he has provided shelters for taxi drivers and passengers to enhance their comfort.
In terms of new initiatives, Michael Oquaye Jnr. has pledged to complete the Abokobi Senior High School to improve the quality of education for students. He also plans to build a fence around the Abokobi Basic School within the first four years to enhance security for the students. As a former teacher, he emphasised the importance of appreciating teachers and proposed a special day to honor them for their hard work.
With a focus on youth empowerment, GABO aims to advocate for STEM training to equip young people with skills that will enhance their employability. On the healthcare front, he emphasised the need to upgrade the Abokobi healthcare center to a full-fledged polyclinic and construct quarters for doctors and nurses to ensure their comfort.
Addressing the needs of market women, Michael Oquaye Jnr. plans to provide water for the market and boreholes for 'Adenkelebi'. He also has ambitions to build a fire service station and lobby for better roads to improve the lives of his constituents.
The NPP Parliamentary candidate also promised to work closely with the Ghana Police Service to enhance police presence and service in the constituency. In support of his candidacy was NPP Deputy National Communications Director, Jennifer Queen, who commended the vision of Michael Oquaye Jnr. and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Supporters present at the event were visibly excited about the positive changes that the constituency was about to experience.
