A large number of people from the various drivers and trade unions, Tailors and Dress Makers Associations, market women and other voluntary organizations, took part in a massive clean-up exercise at Nkawkaw, to mark the National Sanitation Day in the Kwawu West Municipality.
Individuals and private organizations donated items like shovels, wheel barrows, rakes, hand gloves, T-shirts and sachet water, to support the exercise.
The volunteers desilted choked gutters, swept the streets, lorry parks and the main market, to tidy the Municipality.
Speaking to the media after the exercise, the Municipal Chief Executive, Dr Alex Somuah Obeng, said the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, has presented 600 dust bins to the Assembly to be rented out to individuals and households for a fee at the end of the month, after their refuse had been collected by the sanitation officials.
He commended the people for their massive participation, and advised those who failed to participate in the exercise to get involved next time round.
