The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has lost her seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Rev. Kwaku Addo.
Rev. Kwaku Addo secured 31,866 valid votes, while Ursula, who also serves as the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, garnered 26,575 valid votes.
This victory marks the end of Ursula's tenure as a legislator, a role she has held since 2012.
In the 2020 elections, Ursula polled 37,363 votes, while Rev. Kwaku Addo obtained 30,733 votes out of the 69,533 total valid votes cast.
The Electoral Commission is currently announcing results from various constituencies after the counting and collation of votes at polling and collation centers nationwide.
This exercise, being conducted at the National Collation Centre in Accra, is intended to promote transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
Both the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party have held separate press conferences, urging their supporters to remain calm and allow the Electoral Commission to complete its work.
The NPP has called on its supporters to conduct themselves responsibly while monitoring the collation and announcement of results. Meanwhile, the NDC has encouraged its supporters to remain vigilant and avoid premature celebrations as the process unfolds.
The 2024 elections featured 13 presidential candidates and 807 parliamentary candidates nationwide.
