The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wassa East District in the Western Region, Wilson Arthur has accused the media of grossly exaggerating his ‘collapse’ when reading a speech on behalf of the President as part of the 61st Independence Day Celebration.

According to him, he had to discontinue reading the six-page address of the President when he got to the 5th page because he felt dizzy.

Media reports earlier indicated that the DCE collapsed on the grounds of the Independence Day celebration in the course of reading his speech and was ushered to the Ahamydiia Muslim Mission hospital at Daboase by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wassa East constituency, Isaac Adjei Mensah.

The District Coordinating Director according to the reports had to take over and read the DCE’s speech.

But in a Facebook post, the DCE who is also the CEO of Skyy Power FM in Takoradi stated that his aide had to help him to his chair where an ambulance had to take him to Ahamydiia Hospital for some treatment.

“Our District Health Director, Dr. Sunderland joined the head of the health facility to attend to me. I received a drip and got discharged under an hour,” the post said further.

Wilson Arthur, however, said he has tasted a dose of media exaggeration which is not sweet at all.

This is to appreciate the goodwill, good wishes and overwhelming response to a media story yesterday that I collapsed delivering the 61st Independence Presidential Address at Daboase. The picture is grossly exaggerated.

Yes I discontinued reading the six page address almost at the end of the 5th page because I felt very dizzy. My aide helped me to my chair where I sat till the Medics on duty brought the ambulance to take me to Ahamydiia Hospital.

Our District Health Director, Dr Sunderland joined the head of the health facility to attend to me. I received a drip and got discharged under an hour.

Thank GOD I am very well. I appreciate your love and best wishes. Wilson Arthur is well by grace of GOD. I have tasted a dose of Media exaggeration. Not sweet at all.
