Across the world, women continue to make significant strides in various sectors, challenging gender stereotypes and shattering glass ceilings.

From the fields of science, technology engineering and mathematics, (STEM) to politics, health and law, more women continue to push boundaries as they are being seen, heard and recognised.

Among these trailblazer's is Dr. Beatrice Darko-Yeboah, the second woman to earn a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Ghana.

In a recent post shared on LinkedIn by digital marketer and publicist Edward Asare, congratulated Dr. Beatrice Darko for this remarkable feat.

"Dr. Yeboah has worked hard to achieve her goals, earning a BA and MPhil in Archaeology before becoming the second female Archaeologist in the University of Ghana's taught program.

"Congratulations to Dr. Beatrice Darko Yeboah on this remarkable achievement," he shared.

He added that Dr. Yeboah is passionate about learning from the past to protect the future.

Her research focused on how Europeans interacted with the people of Osu and how past cultures handled environmental challenges.

"As an environmentalist, Dr. Yeboah wants to promote sustainability and reduce the effects of climate change. She believes understanding our past relationship with the environment is key to building a better future.

"Dr. Yeboah is passionate about learning from the past to protect the future. Her research focused on how Europeans interacted with the people of Osu and how past cultures handled environmental challenges," he narrated.

He said her achievement shows that with determination and passion women and girls can achieve anything.

"Her achievement inspires women and girls to pursue their dreams and shows that with determination and passion, anything is possible," he stated.

Profile of Dr. Beatrice Darko Yeboah

Dr. Darko-Yeboah started her career at the University of Ghana as a teaching assistant in the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies.


She is a historical archaeologist, environmentalist, and lecturer.

Her field of expertise includes landscape archaeology excavation, cultural heritage archaeology.
