18-year-old Samuel Atta Banson and 17-year-old Ohemaa Faye Nimoh, our new 'Young Ambassadors' of the first SOLD OUT edition of Mr & Miss Teen Ghana UK 2017.
It was a glamorous event shrouded in an aura of excitement as hundreds gathered for the 1st Edition which took place on 21st October 2017 at The Sanctuary, London, hosted by model Emmanuel Mensah& entrepreneur Tonisha Tagoe.
The winners of the night, Samuel Atta Banson, a student who is currently studying Chemistry, Maths and Religious Studies and Ohemaa Faye Nimoh, a student currently studying, History, Philosophy & Ethics and Performing Arts.
Ohemaa Faye Nimoh plans to use her platform to inspire the youth and educate them on Ghanaian culture.
"I would like to use my platform to create programs and clubs for young Ghanaians to be fully educated on their culture. I also aspire to be an Entrepreneur where I can hold projects for the benefits of youths in Ghana and the UK. Myself and Sam want to empower our youth to be proud of their culture and embrace it."
Ohemaa continues to talk about how the programme has helped her, Ohemaa continues to talk about how the programme has helped her, "Taking part in this 12-week mentoring program has taught me a lot about myself. I have been introduced to key players in the industry and mentors who are interested in seeing me grow and I know this platform, we are about to create, will be something that is needed and great for the youth”.
Samuel Atta Banson also spoke about the importance of promoting Ghanaian culture to youth and creating a platform for young people to have a voice.
"Teen Ghana UK has provided me with such an amazing platform and I want to use this platform to inspire young people out there and help them to achieve their dreams. I want the youth in our society to come together and discuss issues that they face and in the end, help inspire each other to make our lives a better one”.
He adds “This programme has really opened my eyes to how influential we all are and how we can make a change, as Teen Ghana UK first brand ambassadors. We need to set the standard, we need to represent all youths and creating this platform will be the start of something amazing for our youths.”
The well attended programme was laced with performances from Singer Deborah Darling who led the national anthem followed by praise and worship, live performance from afrobeats artiste G Queen, Guitarist James McCarthy, Dance performance by DEM3 & Princess K, live band performance from JCP London and live Art By Abena who presented her artwork to the winners.
The winners of Teen Ghana UK are committed to promoting Ghana’s culture by creating a platform for young people to have a voice. They will be focused on and committed to the empowerment of youth in the UK and to be a responsible representative of all Ghanaians.
“The SOLD OUT 1st edition of Teen Ghana UK was indescribable. It was amazing to see a room filled with all ages supporting our future ambassadors. With our credible special guests such as the Ghana High Commission, I am overwhelmed with the positive feedback and look forward to this platforms continuous success. Our next steps is to arrange a meeting with young ambassadors to focus on our yearly activities with them”.
