Member of the Council of State tours Sekyere West

Kyebi (Ash), July 12, GNA - Nana Asonaba Dapaah, a Member of the Council of State, has visited Atonsu and Kyebi to round off his two-day familiarisation tour of Sekyere West District of Ashanti.

Addressing separate durbars of chiefs and people of the two communities, he urged the youth to demonstrate a high spirit of humility and sobriety to reflect the rich Ghanaian culture.

He observed that the youth of today had on many occasions assumed to know better than the elderly who had brought them that far and were ready to justify their stands in odd situations. The Council of State member asked parents and educational institutions to imbibe in the youth the need to communicate properly as courtesy demands.

Nana Dapaah who had earlier given an overview of the functions of his outfit, said President John Agyekum Kufuor had turned the fortunes of the nation because he had subjected himself to counselling. Touching on rural development, he said, the government's plans to improve the road network in the rural areas was on high gear and urged the rural dwellers to expect a more positive change in their lives.

He added that no evil or human imagination could subvert the nation's democracy because "the finger of God is ruling the country." Mr Thomas Edward Atakorah, the District Chief Executive, in his contribution, announced that pragmatic measures had been put in place to tackle the problem of mass unemployment as well as reduce poverty among Ghanaians.

The people appealed to the district assembly to provide them with more places of convenience, potable water and security.
