Mental health staff of Koforidua Regional Hospital commended

The Director of the Koforidua Regional Hospital, Dr Kwame Anim-Boamah, has commended the staff of the Psychiatric Department of the hospital for picking two lunatics from the streets, treating them to recover and sending them to their relations.

The department undertook the exercise with the support of the Department of Social Welfare and the families of the lunatics to prove that psychiatric cases could be treated to encourage families to seek medical treatment for their relations with such challenges.

Dr Anim-Boamah gave the commendation at the formal opening of a two-day annual review meeting of the hospital in Koforidua on Wednesday.

Dr James Appiah-Kussi, Specialist at the Medical Department, advised Ghanaians to eat more red meat which has more iron in it adding that the hospital had been recording more cases of people with low blood levels and said that problem could arise from poor dieting and eating habits.
