Meridian FM organises X'mas Party for needy children

Tema, Dec. 28, GNA - Management of Meridian FM, a local radio station in Tema, has organised a Christmas party for needy children within the Metropolis at the weekend. Over 700 needy and vulnerable children attended the party, which was under the theme: "Put a Smile On The Face Of a Needy Child. "

Mrs Diana Heymann-Adu, Co-ordinator of the Programme, said the annual event was to show love and care for the disadvantaged in society. She explained that reaching out to the disadvantaged was one of the station's social responsibilities to address some basic needs of the vulnerable.

Mrs. Heymann-Adu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Meridian FM station, appealed to Non Governmental and other benevolent organizations to assist needy children to live dignified lifestyles. Children from different orphanage homes, including Teshie, Osu, Kpone, Tema New Town and surrounding communities, were served with food, used clothing, and assorted items. They were also given some educational materials such as exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers and crayons, to enhance their studies. Kids below seven years were also presented with dolls, teddy bears and toys to usher in the Christmas festivities.
