Mfantseman District Directorate of Education supports needy pupils

Anomabu (C/R), May 28, GNA - The Mfantseman District Director of Education has presented school uniforms, bags and some stationery valued at three million cedis to 50 brilliant but needy pupils made up of 24 boys and 26 girls.

The package was sponsored by the Danish Fund for International Development to motivate the pupils to study hard despite the financial difficulties of their guardians.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony which coincided with a seminar on responsible parenting, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman District Chief Executive, admonished married couples to limit the size of their families to enable them cater well for their needs.

"The days when parents boasted of having more children than their neighbours are gone," the DCE said, adding that "this time round, the level of education and the type of work the children do are what matter."

He cautioned parents, especially fathers to live up to their responsibilities and that they should not expect the government or someone else to provide the needs of their children. Mr Isaac Bart-Addison, District Director of Education cautioned teachers against driving away children who attend classes in their home dresses.

He also cautioned the teachers to desist from imposing unauthorised levies on their pupils and warned that anyone caught doing that will be severely sanctioned.
