Mfantseman-West NPP launches electioneering campaign

Saltpond (C/R), Sept. 13, GNA - The Mfantseman West Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), at the weekend launched its Election 2004 campaign at Saltpond with a call on members to engage in "clean politics".

Mr James Dennis Ehuren, Constituency Chairman, who launched the campaign urged supporters to comport themselves while they canvass for votes.

They should not use provocative language against their opponents and should not entertain unnecessary arguments. Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, Mfantseman District Chief Executive, urged supporters to work hard to win more than 80 percent of the votes for both the presidential and parliamentary candidates. He said the party's doors were still open for new members, even from the opposition parties.

Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Information and the party's parliamentary candidate for the constituency said the launch of the campaign was symbolic because political party activities in the Gold Coast started at Saltpond.

He said the NPP government had done a good job within the three-and-a-half years it had been in office and appealed to Ghanaians to renew its mandate in the Election 2004.

Alhaji M.B. Gibrine, Central Regional Organiser of the party admonished supporters to base their campaign messages on what the party had achieved in a relatively short time and what it hoped to do, given a second term.
