Mfensi (Ash), Nov 16 GNA - Teachers of the Mfensi Junior Secondary School have attributed the school's poor performance to some parents' habit of withdrawing brilliant students from the school to nearby public and private schools.
They said the persistent withdrawal of good materials from the school did not only affect enrolment but also academic records. The teachers made this known at an educational forum organised by the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Education Directorate at Mfensi for its residents and outlying communities on Tuesday.
Mr Richard Owusu-Agyemang, the District Community Participation Co-ordinator (CPC), appealed to community leaders to reduce tension, mistrust and suspicion and give way to the promotion of active community participation in school activities.
Mr. Owusu-Agyemang advised the School Management Committee members to identify causes of conflicts and encourage regular consultations and dialogue among stakeholders. Mr Stephen Amankwaa, the new Assembly member for the area, expressed regret that a lot of children were out of school and appealed to parents to put high value on education. 16 Nov 06
