Black Stars forward, Michael Baidoo is on the verge of becoming Plymouth Argyle's first acquisition in the January transfer window after completing his medical.
The 25-year-old will join the English Championship side from Swedish club Elfsborg.
The Ghana midfielder finalised his medical on Tuesday, December 31, and was present at Home Park to watch Argyle’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City.
He observed the game from the directors' area in the Lower Mayflower Grandstand as the Pilgrims staged a comeback from two goals down.
Argyle initially pursued Baidoo in the summer with a club-record bid, but the deal fell through as he opted to help Elfsborg secure Europa League qualification.
The midfielder has since impressed in Europe, scoring twice in six games against Roma and Galatasaray.
The agreement to bring Baidoo to Argyle was finalized before Wayne Rooney’s departure as manager last month.
As Argyle languishes at the bottom of the Championship table, Baidoo’s arrival is expected to bolster their efforts to turn the season around.
Baidoo's impressive consistency in Sweden earned him his debut for the Black Stars in 2024, and he is determined to retain his spot in the squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
