Military/Police operations excellent - CDS

Ho, Aug. 24, GNA - Lieutenant-General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defense Staff, (CDS) on Wednesday lauded the excellent operational understanding between the military and the police.

He said this cooperation is manifested in the current peace in the country.

Lt-Gen Blay made the observation in an interaction with Journalists during a working visit to the 66th Artillery Regiment in Ho.

He said the visit was a routine tour to interact with his men and women to further strengthen the needed esprit-de-corps in the military.

Lt-Gen Blay visited the Regiment’s kraal, which holds 285 cattle, maize farms, and a swimming pool project, among others.

He suggested that the Regiment should go into partnership with a private entrepreneur to raise the swimming pool centre into a bustling entertainment joint.

The CDS urged the command of the Regiment to make use of their vast land as a corporate entity and also encourage soldiers to use their spare time in farming.

Lt-Gen Blay told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the thrust of his close door meeting with the soldiers, as part of the tour, was to give them pep-talks on comportment and listen to some of their concerns.

He said he was pleased with the state of discipline at the Regiment.
