Former Vice President John Evans Attah-Mills says the reconciliatory gestures by NDC Chairman Obed Asamoah have to be carefully considered. At the formal launch of his re-election bid on Monday, the NDC chairman rendered an apology to former President Rawlings, former Vice-president Atta-Mills and all others who might have been offended by him during his tenure as party chairman.
While accepting the apology, Prof. Mills said Dr. Asamoah?s utterances seem to be at variance with his actions. In an interview, Prof Mills said he needs to be convinced that the reconciliatory gesture is not merely superficial.
?I have a few difficulties much as I would want to accept the apology. About five days ago, he circulated a document, which made disparaging remarks about former President Rawlings and myself and I don?t know what has happened now to give him a change of mind.
I agree that as a party we must unite but we must not unite only for congresses but for all times and when we make such statements both in public and in private we must show good faith?, he said.
