Mills Knew About Wayome Payment -Minister

On Thursday 26th January 2012 the Ghanaian Times newspaper, an authoritative mouth piece of the Government of Ghana, in a front page story told the whole world that: "Betty blames government for woes."

Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, speaking through the former Presidential Spokesperson now Deputy Minister for Education, Mr. Mahama Ayariga, for the first time said that: "she resigned her post because the government failed to defend her, in the face of the incessant attacks on her by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The paper continued that: "Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu who authorised the payment to Woyome having entered into an agreement on the basis of which he procured the judgement culminating in the payment of GHC58 million to him, became very concerned about the tone of the discussions."

Mr. Mahama Ayariga as a former Presidential Spokesperson is still close to the President and Koku Anyidoho his former rival and colleague. Consequently, if Mr Mahama Ayariga says that Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu resigned because the Government failed to defend her, suggesting that the Government of President Atta-Mills approved the payments to Woyome.

Mr. Mahama Ayariga's explanation now throws more light on why the National Democratic Congress wing of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) led by his youngest brother, Osman Abdulai Ayariga called upon Mr. Martin Amidu, the former Attorney-General to name the corrupt or criminal Minister involved in the concealment of the gargantuan crime within 72 hours or be prevented by the NUGS from entering the office of the Attorney-General.

The explanation given by Mr. Mahama Ayariga also now explains why he was on Metro TV on the morning of 19th January 2012, defending the then unnamed Minister and the payment of GHC58 million to Alfred Agbesi Woyome and condemning the former Attorney-General. In accordance with plan, Mr. Martin Amidu, the former Attorney-General was relieved of his position with immediate effect in the afternoon as predicted by Mahama Ayariga and the NDC rented press. Our Castle sources say Mahama Ayariga, Koku Ayindohu, and the likes of them who are close to President Atta-Mills are those who control what Mr. Amidu called the criminal, perverse, and rented NDC press bent on tarnishing his hard won reputation and integrity. This was the machinery Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu expected to come to her defence which back fired miserably in its determination to destroy the integrity of Mr. Amidu.

Mr. Amidu was on target when he wrote that "the attacks against me which started in the Daily Post publication of 3rd January 2012 were planned by a colleague Minister of State who perceived that my integrity and professionalism as a lawyer was a threat to the concealment of gargantuan crimes against the People of Ghana in which they might be implicated."

The hens have come home to roost as Mahama Ayariga, former Presidential Spokesperson, and now Deputy Minister for Education in the Ghanaian Times and citifmonline of 26th January 2012 defend Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu on behalf of the Government of Ghana. Mr. Martin Amidu's misconduct was to have dared to go to Court to retrieve the GHC58 million and expose the concealment of the gargantuan crimes against the People of Ghana. That is the price to pay for defending transparency, probity and accountability in President Atta-Mills' Better Ghana vision for Ghana.
