Mills, Rawlings meeting has energised NDC - Koku

The office of the President says President Mills’ recent meeting with former President Rawlings has energized the ruling party ahead of the December elections.

The two gentlemen are said to have had a generally cordial discussion with good prospects of collaboration in the elections.

The two gentlemen haven’t been on the best of terms since President Mills assumed office in 2009.

The President has constantly been at the receiving end of a deluge of harsh criticism from former President Rawlings and the founder of the NDC.

Traditional leaders and some elders in the NDC have tried on several occasions to close ranks between the two leaders but to no avail.

But Presidential Spokesperson Koku Anyidoho in an interview with XYZ News said the recent meeting between the two leaders was positive.

“The founder of the party and the leader of the party met and I am sure it is energizing everybody so that is what is important”.

He added that the President Mills is poised to retain his office come December.

“You are going to see the President working, the President has been working since he was given the mandate. The President will continue to work.

“It is an election year and there are going to be much more outdoor activities and I reckon the NDC will participate”. **
